Uroflowmetry is a simple, non-invasive diagnostic test that measures the flow rate and pattern of urine during voiding. During the procedure, patients urinate into a specialized funnel or toilet connected to a measuring device that records the volume of urine passed per second, total volume voided, and the time taken to complete urination.
This test is commonly used to evaluate lower urinary tract symptoms such as difficulty urinating, weak stream, hesitancy, or incomplete bladder emptying. Uroflowmetry helps diagnose conditions including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urethral strictures, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, and bladder outlet obstruction.
